Hilarious! Nigerian Superstars as Diseases…by Chris Ogunlowo

I found this article on thenet.ng written by Chris Ogunlowo and I found it so hilarious that I had to share it here. It's famous Nigerians as diseases. Too funny! Enjoy below...

1. Wizkid Syndrome: A chronic tendency to create catchy and repetitive hits to a loyal fan base with a boyish charm that induces envy from peers and late-bloomers, which also hides the fact, that one is approaching quarter-life.
2. Davidotis: A psychiatric condition whereby a sufferer survives speculations of whether genuine talent or one’s father’s wealth is the source of one’s success, alongside a pervading comparison with an equally talented whiz-kid.
3. Tuface Syndrome: A rare syndrome that occurs when prodigious talent meets prodigious baby-making ability but with a legendary status, strong social equity and a staying power that keep a whole industry in awe.

 4. D’banj Obsessive Disorder: A disease characterized by the feeling that one’s best days are firmly behind and, as a result, one looks for outlets to compensate for fading stardom and income, including taking relief in farming-

5. Dangotiosis: A condition marked by an obsession with Dangote‘s wealth, only curable by a decision to mind one’s own business.

6. Lindapilepsy: A strong and strange resentment that occurs when news of Linda Ikeji’s wealth arises, which is commonly observed among struggling publicists, jealous digital marketers, hungry journalists, and retired or rival bloggers.

7. Iyanyamariasis: The abnormal ability of a cell to spot errors in its former ways before proceeding to create a trademark style that takes waist gyrations to nerve-racking heights with performances worthy of Mr. Universe Pageantry.

8. Tontolitis: The debilitating ability to sustain fame in an erratic way as it was acquired while still smiling to the bank.

9. PSquarisasis: When two malignant cells take the understanding of a market to unprecedented heights resulting in a dominance previously thought impossible and doing it with a discernible Igbo accent.

10. Don Jazzy Disorder: A disorder that makes an organ produce back-to-back hits and maintain a social equity that can embarrass pastors and politicians, including a social media addiction and an idiosyncratic singing style that impresses.

11. Kceeosis: A cell’s ability to confuse celebrity with a right to make embarrassing wardrobe choices and a knack for coming out even more horrendous than a previous time despite public outcry and bile from popular bloggers.

12. Jenniferiasis: The ability of an organ to exhibit behavior that would ordinarily be considered razz to a point where the lines between acting and reality are blurred but compensated with popular adulation and brand endorsements.

13. MIplasia: A type of dwarfism that compensates the lack of bone growth with incredible rhyming prowess and a persona capable of inducing endless admiration and beef from hustling rappers.

14. Ice Prince Cerebral Cramps: A disorder that causes exaggerated hip-hop postures, a rigid conformity to infantile end-rhymes that turn rap songs into mainstream classics and also results in multiple awards than most “serious” rappers.

15. Mode Complex: An affliction that causes an artist to be the default reference for prodigious & clever wordplay that, sadly, does not correlate with the amount of albums sold or account balance, a living proof of the saying: ‘grammar no be money’.

16. Dakolomentality: A rare psychotic disorder that inflicts a sufferer with unlimited guttural talent but indistinctive brand positioning & packaging.

17. Olamide Palsy: A malignant tumor that involves a blatant display of one’s ethnicity and background combined with traits mostly reserved for touts but interestingly made into a premium musical package that surprises earlier sufferers of the same tumor who faded into obscurity.

18. Phynognomy: A severe condition similar to Olamide Palsy but with an Igbo flair and an ability to turn what would have been a bad hair day for most into a phenomenal signature look.

19. Bella Naija Syndrome: An affliction whereby the Nigerian national man-hour is spent keeping track of who wore what to where until one wakes up to the reality of a wasted lifetime.

20. Kedike Syndrome: A syndrome that causes a sufferer to endure a clean image despite the presence of a latent sexuality which experts guess might lead to a Rihanna Crisis or, in the extreme, a psychiatric condition of Miley Cyrus proportions....

So true ooo. LWKMD

Lawyer Festus Keyamo petitions SSS, IGP over threat to kill him by Tompolo

Just received this petition which was sent to the IG of Police and SSS from lawyer and rights activist Festus Keyamo about an alleged threat to his life. Read below... And let's see how this would pan

Excerpt:
Threat to kill Mr. Festus Keyamo by Mr. Government Ekpemupolo (Alias Tompolo)
My name is Festus Keyamo. I am a Nigerian citizen and a senior member of the legal profession in Nigeria.
At exactly 10:13pm on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, I received a telephone call from one Mr. Government Ekpemupolo (alias Tompolo) with phone number (I removed the number). We have been acquaintances in the past, so I know his numbers. After reaffirming that he is Tompolo when I picked his call, he went straight to the point by informing me that he wishes to inform me that he and his “boys” will kill me by beating me to death or shooting me anywhere they can find me. And that the hunt for me is on. His exact words in pidgin English was “we dey look for you. Anywhere we see you, whether for Lagos or Abuja or Warri, we go beat you die or we go shoot you.”
He said he would kill me because I have decided to take up the matter involving his blood brother, Mr. George Ekpemupolo, who was used to illegally substitute another candidate, Mr. Weyinmi Omadeli (48 hours to the election) in the Warri South-West L.G.A elections that were concluded last Saturday in Delta State. He said no one has ever challenged his authority in Delta State. Kindly find attached the open letter I wrote to Governor Uduaghan of Delta State yesterday which has sparked Tompolo’s determination to kill me.
I asked TompoloFIVE TIMES whether, he was, in fact, threatening my life over an open line and he said nobody in the country can do anything about it by the time I am dead.
Co-incidentally, exactly three minutes after Tompolo dropped his line, His Excellency, Governor Udaughan called me at exactly 10.16pm, and I reported to him what just transpired between Tompolo and myself. The Governor promised to speak with him, but that cannot be reassuring enough, and I know the remedy in law against an intended murderer is not to beg him but to ignite the criminal justice system against him, no matter how comatose that system is.
I know the subject of this petition, Tompolo, is a favoured citizen of this government, and I am not. I know Tompolois close to those in power at the moment, whereas I am an ordinary citizen. I know Tompolo has money and influence (which are factors that are widely acknowledged to aid a suspect walk away with murder in Nigeria), but I have none of these. I know Tompolo has instrument to kill human beings, and I have none.
In the circumstance, I am making this petition public so that when you refuse to attend to my complaint and outcry, the ordinary people of this country will, at least, know from where my death came and I will not join the long list of unresolved murders. My killer, should, at least be known.
Thank you for, at least, reading my petition.
Yours sincerely,

FESTUS KEYAMO, ESQ.

Zambian President Michael Sata dies in London

Zambian President Michael Sata has died at the age of
77 after receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness,
the government says.
President Sata, who was being treated in the UK, died in
London's King Edward VII hospital on Tuesday night.
Media said that he died after "a sudden onset [of]
heightened heart rate".
It is not immediately clear who will succeed the
president. The issue may be decided by the Zambian
cabinet which meets on Wednesday morning.
"It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing on
of our beloved president," cabinet secretary Roland
Msiska said on national TV.
He said that Mr Sata's wife and son were at his
bedside.
"I urge all of you to remain calm, united and peaceful
during this very difficult period," Mr Msiska added.

Gravelly-voiced as a result of years of chain-smoking,
Michael Sata rose to political prominence in the 1980s.
He quickly earned a reputation as the hardest-working
governor while in charge of Lusaka and as a populist
man of action. But he was also known for his
authoritarian tendencies, an abrasive manner and a
sharp tongue - and his critics say his nickname of "King
Cobra" was well-deserved.
A devout Catholic, Mr Sata had worked as a police
officer, railway man and trade unionist during colonial
rule. After independence, he also spent time in London,
working as a railway porter, and, back in Zambia, with a
taxidermist company.
On the fourth attempt, Mr Sata won presidential
elections in 2011. At first he looked as if he would keep
promises to tackle corruption and create jobs and
prosperity. But his term in office was marred by a
crackdown on political opposition and a decline in the
economy.

'King Cobra'
The president's death comes just days after Zambia
celebrated the 50th anniversary of independence from
the UK.
He is the second Zambian leader to die in office after
Levy Mwanawasa in 2008.
Earlier this month reports in Zambia said that President
Sata had gone abroad for a medical check-up amid
persistent speculation that he was seriously ill.
After he left the country, Defence Minister Edgar Lungu
was named as acting president.
Vice-President Guy Scott has regularly stood in for the
president at official events. But he is of Scottish
descent and his parents were not born in Zambia, so he
may fall foul of a constitutional clause on parentage
which would nullify his candidacy.
Known as "King Cobra" for his venomous tongue, Mr
Sata was elected Zambia's president in 2011, defeating
the then incumbent Rupiah Banda whose party had been
in power for 20 years.
He has rarely been seen in public since returning from
the UN General Assembly last month, where he failed to
make a scheduled speech.

Speaker Aminu Tambuwal formally defects from PDP to APC

Horrific details of Chibok girls’ abuse, by Human Rights Watch

THE Human Rights Watch has given horrific details of how kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls were abused by Boko Haram members.

In its newly released report, the rights group said its report on the girls’ abuse was made up of first-hand accounts from some of the schoolgirls who escaped after April’s Chibok kidnappings.

It described the revelations which emerged from the girls interviews as “shocking details.”

The report, entitled: “Those Terrible Weeks in Their Camp: Boko Haram Violence against Women and Girls in North-East Nigeria,” includes evidence the group said it got from 46 witnesses and victims of the sect.

Expressing the “shocking details,” the human rights group, sharing the experiences of some girls who escaped from terror group, said many of them suffered physical torture, rape and forced marriage, which they endured in their secret forest camps.

The report said some victims were also forced to take part in attacks and carry ammunition for fighters during battle, adding that “others have been used as bait to lure Christian men to their deaths.”

Daniel Bekele, Africa Director at Human Rights Watch, said Nigerian government must do more to protect and rehabilitate the girls, and also to track down those behind the abuse.

“The Nigerian government and its allies need to step up their efforts to put an end to these brutal abductions and provide for the medical, psychological, and social needs of the women and girls who have managed to escape.

“The girls were held for several days in the Sambisa forest and only released after they promised to convert to Islam and give up school,” he said.

The Human Rights Watch, in a Sky News report, said the government “rarely, if ever, interviews the girls.”

It said “the group targets students and Christians, threatening them with whipping, beating, or death unless they convert to Islam, stop attending school, and wear the veil or hijab.”

The Agence France-Presse (AFP), taking excerpts from the report, quoted a 19-year-old student from Borno State, who described how militants ambushed her and five friends and threatened to kill them for going to school.

According to the news agency report, one of the men shouted: “Aha! These are the people we are looking for, so you are the ones with strong heads who insist on attending school when we have said ‘Boko’ is ‘Haram.’ We will kill you here today.”

Girls who escape the group’s clutches are often ignored despite having vital intelligence about Boko Haram’s inner workings, the report said.

For example, they often have information on chain of command, ammunition, and how the fighters keep tabs on Nigeria’s military.

19yr old sex hitchhiker says she plans to bed different men in every city she visits

19 year old Chinese girl, Ju Peng who lives in Shanghai, and is currently on tour of China, says she plans to have sex with different men in every city she visits - as a way of paying for her trip. She posted an ad on Chinese website Weibo saying she's looking for "temporary boyfriends" who must be "good looking, under 30, taller than 1.75 metres and, of course, rich".
"They will fund my transport to their city and all my expenses while I am there and they need to be generous. In return, they get a whole night with me, my undivided attention, and a chance to show themselves off in the company of a truly beautiful girl." Ju Peng wrote

Many men, of course, replied to her ads, while the women called her 'ashewo', lol...asking the ads to be removed, but Ju says she's not ashamed of her methods. She's already traveled to a few cities in China sleeping with men who fund her trip and says she wants to see many more cities and will continue to have 'temporary boyfriends who will fund her trip because she doesn't have money to fund it herself
"It is sort of like hitchhiking. It's nothing to be ashamed of." she wrote.

"I'm not bothered that people think I am arrogant" - Wizkid

In a new interview with Encomium mag, Wizkid said he doesn't care if people think he is arrogant, that he doesn't love everybody and so doesn't expect everybody to love him.

Asked if it bothers him that people think he's arrogant, Wizkid said;
"Bother me? Never! I am not bothered. Honestly I don't hear people saying it because anytime I go out, I show my fans great love. I do my thing. I don't have problem with that because I don't love everybody as well. So I don't expect everybody to love me too. That's life" Continue...
Asked if he is terrible person, Wizkid said;
"Terrible? Everyone has opinion about people. But when they say Wizkid is terrible, you need to ask them, "Why is Wizkid a terrible person? What did he do? For four years, I was making music with Samklef, everyone knew his house. I was going up and down, shouting, Samklef Nor Ni. That's me, I am just trying to be a good person. Whereas everyone cannot like you and everyone cannot hate you" he said.
Asked if fame has in anyway changed him, Wizkid said
"No, fame has not changed Wizkid. The only thing fame has changed in Wizkid is that I added some accessories. I have got nice chains, watches, and nice clothes. Asides that, I am still Wizkid. I no tall, still same height"
He also reacted to his recent controversy with singer Saeon,
"Oh really? She's bitter about it. I didn't see the allegation but I gave her hit song. I no try? I did my part. I was in the studio with her, gave her hit song. I no try. That's not even how much I charge for collaboration, I charge N10 million. I collected N1.5 million from her because of love. I was busy, I didn't want to do it" he said.
Asked about the comment that he doesn't charge those he loves, Wizkid said;
"Yeah I don't charge people I love. I said so but when someone is on your neck everyday for a collaboration and she offers you money, won't you collect it? If you fail to collect it, they start calling you terrible person. I am just trying to be a good guy"
On his fashion sense, Wizkid said;
"Fresh! Am I not looking fresh? I have always loved chains a lot. For me, I also see chains as investment because they ar gold and diamond. You can always sell anything gold and diamond. It is like an investment for me".
On why he loves to flaunt his accessories on social media, Wizkid said;
"You know now. I didn't have accessories when I started my career. Did you see me wearing bling-bling when I did Hola at your boi? No! I hustled to get money to buy them and there is no crime if I show it or flaunt it to my fans because they gave me money to buy them" he said
On where he invests his money, Wizkid said;
"I will say property but most importantly Jewelry. Do you know how much I can sell this chain on my neck when I get broke, God forbid? It's money and to me it's investment. I don't spend money on foolish things. I spend moderately. Besides I am a grown man. I have problems too. I have a child I am taking care of. I have responsibilities, believe it or not" he said
Asked if he is expecting another child, Wizkid said;
"Expecting wetin? Did I tell you I am expecting a child? Yes I didn't tell you guys when I was expecting my first child because people wanted to kill me but Honestly, nothing like that I am not expecting any child now"
Asked if he is getting married anytime soon, Wizkid hissed and said "Wedding? No!"

Read heartbreaking last letter Iranian woman wrote before she was hanged

27 year old Reyhaney Jabbari was executed on Saturday October 25th by hanging in Iran seven years after she killed a man that she claimed had attempted to rape her. (read here). Before she was killed, Reyhaney wrote a very emotional letter to her mother, asking that her organs be donated to those who need them. See the full text of the letter after the cut...

The full text of the letter was translated by the National Council of Resistance of Iran:

Dear Sholeh, today I learned that it is now my turn to face Qisas (the Iranian regime's law of retribution). I am hurt as to why you did not let me know yourself that I have reached the last page of the book of my life. Don’t you think that I should know? You know how ashamed I am that you are sad. Why did you not take the chance for me to kiss your hand and that of dad?
The world allowed me to live for 19 years. That ominous night it was I that should have been killed. My body would have been thrown in some corner of the city, and after a few days, the police would have taken you to the coroner’s office to identify my body and there you would also learn that I had been raped as well. The murderer would have never been found since we don’t have their wealth and their power. Then you would have continued your life suffering and ashamed, and a few years later you would have died of this suffering and that would have been that.
However, with that cursed blow the story changed. My body was not thrown aside, but into the grave of Evin Prison and its solitary wards, and now the grave-like prison of Shahr-e Ray. But give in to the fate and don’t complain. You know better that death is not the end of life.
You taught me that one comes to this world to gain an experience and learn a lesson and with each birth a responsibility is put on one’s shoulder. I learned that sometimes one has to fight. I do remember when you told me that the carriage man protested the man who was flogging me, but the flogger hit the lash on his head and face that ultimately led to his death. You told me that for creating a value one should persevere even if one dies.
You taught us that as we go to school one should be a lady in face of the quarrels and complaints. Do you remember how much you underlined the way we behave? Your experience was incorrect. When this incident happened, my teachings did not help me. Being presented in court made me appear as a cold-blooded murderer and a ruthless criminal. I shed no tears. I did not beg. I did not cry my head off since I trusted the law.
But I was charged with being indifferent in face of a crime. You see, I didn’t even kill the mosquitoes and I threw away the cockroaches by taking them by their antennas. Now I have become a premeditated murderer. My treatment of the animals was interpreted as being inclined to be a boy and the judge didn’t even trouble himself to look at the fact that at the time of the incident I had long and polished nails.
How optimistic was he who expected justice from the judges! He never questioned the fact that my hands are not coarse like those of a sportswoman, especially a boxer. And this country that you planted its love in me never wanted me and no one supported me when under the blows of the interrogator I was crying out and I was hearing the most vulgar terms. When I shed the last sign of beauty from myself by shaving my hair I was rewarded: 11 days in solitary.
Dear Sholeh, don’t cry for what you are hearing. On the first day that in the police office an old unmarried agent hurt me for my nails I understood that beauty is not looked for in this era. The beauty of looks, beauty of thoughts and wishes, a beautiful handwriting, beauty of the eyes and vision, and even beauty of a nice voice.
My dear mother, my ideology has changed and you are not responsible for it. My words are unending and I gave it all to someone so that when I am executed without your presence and knowledge, it would be given to you. I left you much handwritten material as my heritage.
However, before my death I want something from you, that you have to provide for me with all your might and in any way that you can. In fact this is the only thing I want from this world, this country and you. I know you need time for this. Therefore, I am telling you part of my will sooner. Please don’t cry and listen. I want you to go to the court and tell them my request. I cannot write such a letter from inside the prison that would be approved by the head of prison; so once again you have to suffer because of me. It is the only thing that if even you beg for it I would not become upset although I have told you many times not to beg to save me from being executed.
My kind mother, dear Sholeh, the one more dear to me than my life, I don’t want to rot under the soil. I don’t want my eye or my young heart to turn into dust. Beg so that it is arranged that as soon as I am hanged my heart, kidney, eye, bones and anything that can be transplanted be taken away from my body and given to someone who needs them as a gift. I don’t want the recipient know my name, buy me a bouquet, or even pray for me. I am telling you from the bottom of my heart that I don’t want to have a grave for you to come and mourn there and suffer. I don’t want you to wear black clothing for me. Do your best to forget my difficult days. Give me to the wind to take away.
The world did not love us. It did not want my fate. And now I am giving in to it and embrace the death. Because in the court of God I will charge the inspectors, I will charge inspector Shamlou, I will charge judge, and the judges of country’s Supreme Court that beat me up when I was awake and did not refrain from harassing me. In the court of the creator I will charge Dr. Farvandi, I will charge Qassem Shabani and all those that out of ignorance or with their lies wronged me and trampled on my rights and didn’t pay heed to the fact that sometimes what appears as reality is different from it.
Dear soft-hearted Sholeh, in the other world it is you and me who are the accusers and others who are the accused. Let’s see what God wants. I wanted to embrace you until I die. I love you.

Iran hangs woman despite campaign

Iran has gone ahead with an execution of a woman despite an international campaign urging a reprieve.

Reyhaneh Jabbari, 26, was hanged in a Tehran prison on Saturday morning. She had been convicted of killing a man she said was trying to sexually abuse her.

Jabbari was arrested in 2007 for the murder of Morteza Abdolali Sarbandi, a former intelligence ministry worker.

Human rights group Amnesty International said her execution was "deeply disappointing in the extreme".

A campaign calling for a halt to the execution was launched on Facebook and Twitter last month and appeared to have brought a temporary stay in execution.

However, government news agency Tasnim said on Saturday that Jabbari had been executed after her relatives failed to gain consent from the victim's family for a reprieve.

It said her claims of self-defence had not been proved in court.

A Facebook page set up to campaign for a stay now says simply: "Rest in peace".

'True intentions'

Jabbari's mother, Shole Pakravan, confirmed the execution in an interview with BBC Persian, saying she was going to the cemetery to see her daughter's body.

Ms Pakravan had been allowed to see her daughter for an hour on Friday.

After her arrest, Jabbari had been placed in solitary confinement for two months, where she reportedly did not have access to a lawyer or her family.

She was sentenced to death by a criminal court in Tehran in 2009.

Amnesty International said she was convicted after a deeply flawed investigation.

Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui, Amnesty's Deputy Director for the Middle East and North Africa Programme said: "This is another bloody stain on Iran's human rights record."

"Tragically, this case is far from uncommon. Once again Iran has insisted on applying the death penalty despite serious concerns over the fairness of the trial."

Amnesty said that although Jabbari admitted to stabbing Abdolali Sarbandi once in the back, she alleged that there was someone else in the house who actually killed him.

Jalal Sarbandi, the victim's eldest son, said Jabbari had refused to identify the man.

He told Iranian media in April: "Only when her true intentions are exposed and she tells the truth about her accomplice and what really went down will we be prepared to grant mercy,"

The United Nations says Iran has executed about 250 people this year.

New York axe attack 'terrorist act'

Police in New York say an axe attack on two officers was a terrorist act carried out by a radicalised Muslim convert.

Zale Thompson, 32, was shot dead after wounding the two officers, one critically, in Queens on Thursday.

Commissioner William Bratton said Thompson was not on any watch lists but had browsed al-Qaeda web sites and watched beheadings.

A bystander shot in the incident is critical but stable in hospital.

'Loner'

Witnesses said the man deliberately targeted the foot-patrol officers, charging them and then swinging the axe two-handed,

One officer, Kenneth Healy, 25, was hit on the head and was listed as critical but stable in hospital. The other officer was hit on the arm.

The officers fired several rounds, killing the attacker and wounding a female bystander, police said.

Commissioner Bratton said the whole incident took just seven seconds and praised the "extraordinary bravery and skill" of the officers involved.

He said of the attacker: "We believe that he acted alone, that we would describe him as self-radicalised."

Mr Bratton said Thompson's father had said his son had "spent extensive amounts of time by himself in his bedroom and by all accounts, was a true proverbial loner".

Thompson had served in the US Navy.

In recent social media postings, he spoke of injustices in US society and abroad, but did not indicate any affiliation with a terrorist group.

APC, PDP leaders meet over Lagos’ 2015 Polls

THE clearest indication of an imminent implosion in the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged.

Aggrieved chieftains of the party have reportedly reached a decision to build a multi-party coalition against the suspected choice of the party leadership for the 2015 governorship election, a former Accountant General of the state, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode.

The plot thickened on Friday as the who-is-who in Lagos attended the formal  launch of Ambode’s aspiration.

Saturday Tribune gathered from authoritative sources that a series of meetings had taken place between the said aggrieved chieftains and governorship hopefuls on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

A grand coalition was said to be the goal of the cross-party fraternity, expected to defeat Ambode in the general election in the state if he is eventually forced in as the party’s standard-bearer.

The primary objective of the idea of the multi-party cooperation, according to an involved source, is the “liberation” of the state from the “grip” of a former governor and national leader of APC, Senator Bola Tinubu, who allegedly imposed Ambode on the party’s leadership.

Three of such meetings, according to Saturday Tribune’s checks, had taken place in three continents.

While one reportedly took place at a secret location in Nigeria, another was said to have taken place at a country in the Middle-East and another in a popular European country.

Four local governments among the original 20, with highest number of votes during the general elections, are reportedly being targeted to deliver the state to the PDP that has been in opposition since 1999 in the state.

If they idea sails through, the grand coalition is expected to be at the forefront of endorsing a candidate for PDP who would be acceptable to voters in the state.

To show the seriousness attached to the plan, the issue of a sellable candidate to contest against Ambode is reportedly being handled in a way that it would not really matter from which of the collaborating platforms the candidate will eventually emerge.

“It is not about ambition now. It is about liberating Lagos from the clutches of a single person. He has had it for about 16 years now. This Ambode step is an opportunity for a new set of leaders to take over,  an APC chieftain involved in the multi-party horse-trading, told Saturday Tribune.

Another aggrieved party chieftain in support of the romance with PDP said, “If the say politicians are not good enough by picking someone not known to the party because of a strange idea of fielding a technocrat, we the politicians will also tell them that with our sweat, we built the platform that only technocrats are now good for.”

Saturday Tribune learnt that the top chieftains are mainly aggrieved because they suspect the party leadership in the state wanted to deny other aspirants the opportunity of testing their popularity in the governorship contest.

An aggrieved aspirant told Saturday Tribune that it was wrong for the party leadership to be pushing to take everything.

According to him, “they zoned the ticket to Lagos East with just 12 council areas out of 57 and in the process, trying to muzzle serious contenders out. We eventually conceded, though a serious aspirant in Supo Sasore has come out from Lagos Central now. And they still want to foist Ambode on us when aspirants from the East should be allowed to slug it out for the most popular candidate to emerge. Who does that in a 21st century politics? The only reason we won’t hand Lagos over to PDP is for them to allow for primaries.”

Meanwhile, the party leadership in the state reportedly directed all the chairmen of the 57 council areas in the state to mobilise minimum of 500 supporters to the governorship declaration of Ambode.

The chairmen were also directed in a text message to be present at the said declaration.

The text message, which was reportedly copied to all the chairmen, was said to have come from a certain council chairman close to Tinubu.

The message read: “Dear chm (meaning chairmen), directives from leadership that all chairmen MUST mobilise 500 people each from dere (their) LG/LCDA to Mr AKIN AMBODE declaration to run as governor of Lagos State under our great party (APC) @ (at) Onikan stadium tomorrow 24/10/2014 by 10.00 am. Pls (please) all chm (chairmen) MUST be in attendance. Regards.”

Other aspirants in contention for the APC ticket are Senator Ganiyu Solomon, Dr Leke Pitan and Supo Sasore.

Senator Gbenga Ashafa has been allegedly talked out of the race in return for a ticket to return to the Senate, representing Lagos East.

Saturday Tribune also gathered that the incumbent deputy governor, Mrs Adejoke Oorelope-Adefulire, has been pencilled in by the party leadership for a Senate ticket, representing Lagos West, the seat currently occupied by Solomon.

Senator Remi Tinubu is primed to return to the Senate, representing Lagos Central.

Governor Fashola is also from Lagos Central and thought to be interested in the senatorial seat before his reported endorsement by the zonal caucus as Buhari’s running mate.

Ambode launches governorship bid

Meanwhile, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, on Friday made formal declaration of his ambition to rule the state come 2015, saying that the story of Lagos as economic nerve centre of Nigeria cannot be told without mentioning the sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo and other great patriots.

Ambode said this at Onikan Stadium where he addressed thousands of party faithful, including leaders, aspirants to various positions, serving local government chairmen led by Honourable Hakeem Sulaimon as well as traditional rulers.

He promised to emulate other great patriots including General Mobolaji Johnson, former Governor Lateef Kayode Jakande, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the incumbent, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, promising to run an all-inclusive government that would work to create opportunities for all and offer selfless service if voted into office as next governor of Lagos.

The governorship aspirant, who was the immediate Account-General of the state, said he was resolved to offer genuine leadership that would be accountable with the principle of good governance that would leave no race or gender behind irrespective of background, declaring that, “we will make Lagos liveable for you.”

Various speakers at the event, including the Chairman, Conference 57, who is also Chairman, Yaba Local Government Area, Hon. Sulaimon and former member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Babatunde Ogala, paid tributes to the ingenuity of Ambode while he served as auditor-general of Lagos State.

According to them, he was the one that charted the way for the state to up its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from mere N600 million to around N12billion, especially during the time former President Olusegun Obasanjo seized the Lagos money due to the issue he had with creation of more local governments in the state.

Fayose swears in Judge who headed his impeachment panel

Ekiti State Gover-nor, Mr Ayo Fayose yesterday stunned the people of the state when he swore in as a judge of the state the man who in 2006 headed his impeachment panel.
Fayose equally announced the promotion of an official of the state Ministry of Justice,Mr Lawrence Ojo who signed his warrant of arrest papers at Ikoyi Prisons during his murder case to position of Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry.
Speaking during the official swearing in ceremony of Justice Bamidele Omotoso, the governor said he went against some of his supporters who felt he should take his pound of flesh.
Omotoso,an Ado Ekiti based legal practitioner, was cleared by the National Judicial Council (NJC) to be made a judge in the state but was refused to be sworn in by the regime of Dr. Kayode Fayemi led government.
Fayose said the inauguration of Omotosho as a judge after two years of being cleared for the post by the National Judicial Council, was a demonstration of a forgiving spirit.
“Few days after my inauguration, some people came to me and reminded me of the role played by Omotoso during my impeachment saga. They said I should not swear  him in as a  judge of the state High Court
“I am not here to revenge, vengeance belongs to God.
“If you want to report anybody to me bring the person here, otherwise I will invite the two of you.”
At the ceremony which was attended by the state Chief Judge,Justice Ayodeji Daramola and the Speaker of the state House of Assembly,Fayose stretched hands of friendship to the legislator and judiciary.
“I plead with the other two arms of government that  Ekiti should come first. You may not like my face and I may not like yours, but Ekiti should be number one.”
“I am ready to work with the Assembly. I am a man of uncommon history, coming back to office after eight years is divine. I have a stern warning from God, do not avenge.
There is nothing personal I have against the judiciary.
People would want to be where you are and life is about struggles. We need more judges and we will help in making them comfortable in the discharge of their duties.
There is need for fair hearing. I want the other arms of government to give my administration a fair hearing and the chance to perform,” he said.
Omotosho, in his remarks, promised to abide by his oath of office and thanked the governor for the appointment

I fell out with Patience Jonathan because I refused to share Rivers money with her" - Amaechi

Governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi says the major reason he and the first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan fell out was because he refused to share the state money with her. Gov Amaechi said this yesterday October 24th at the graduation ceremony of the Pioneer graduands of the Ignatus Ajuru University of Education held at Rumuolumeni in Rivers state. He said
"Remember, when I became governor, I fought militancy. Right there where you built a new house used to be a hole where they pass into the river nd escape. The security report reached me and I came here and chased the militants away. I asked them to fence the school premises and block the hole. I have to protect you because it is my responsibility. Some of the militants went to Lagos, Ivory Coast, Ghana etc. Today, they are back because the wife of the President bought them back to protest against me." Continue...
I refused to give them money in Abuja because if I do that, I won't be able to carry out any developmental projects or finish the road from Rumuolumeni to Rumuepirikom. The quarel between me and the wife of the Preseident is because she said I should bring your money, Rivers peoples money and share with her" Governor Amaechi alleges
Governor Amaechi is also quoted to have told the graduands that should they vote for President Jonathan back into power in next year's general elections, rivers state's economy would crumble
"Now that you are graduates, you are eligible voters that can use your voters card to change society. Ask yourself this question that I have always asked Rivers people. What have we (Rivers people) done to President Jonathan that he has refused to bring any project to Rivers state. We had to fight them before they could do the East-West road. I had to abuse the federal government and they abused me back before they could do the work you now see on that road. Our President, from the South-South, has taken oil wells from Soku in Rivers state to Bayelsa state. What about the 41 oil wells in Etche that was given to Abia state? Is the President or his wife from Abia? Why do they want us to suffer? If President Jonathan comes back to power in 2015, Rivers state economy will crash" he said

2015: Jonathan is running •Sets up 35-man declaration committee

FOLLOWING the one week ultimatum issued on Wednesday by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for its aspirants to pick their expression of interest and nomination forms, the presidency has set up a presidential declaration committee for the formal declaration by President Goodluck Jonathan to re-contest in 2015.

The ultimatum is not thought to have any bearing on the president, since he has already been adopted as the sole presidential candidate of the party.

Impeccable Presidency source revealed in Abuja that the decision to set up the committee was reached after a meeting presided over by President Jonathan at House 7, Presidential Villa, on Thursday.

The meeting resolved to set up the committee with representatives from the six geopolitical zones, with former acting national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Bello Mohammed, named as chairman of the committee.

The committee has the mandate to choose a date between November 7 and 15 for the formal declaration.

Aside Mohammed, other members of the committee are Senator Ken Nnamani (deputy chairman), Senator Anyim Pius Anyim (secretary), with Professor Rufa’i Ahmed Alkali; Julius Imagwe, Dr Baraka Sani as members.

Governors representing zones in the committee are Liyel Imoke, Cross River (South South); Theodore Orji, Abia (South East); Olusegun Mimiko, Ondo (South West); Dr Mua’zu Babangida Aliyu, Niger (North Central); Ibrahim Shema, Katsina (North West) and Ibrahim Dankwambo, Gombe (North East).

National Assembly representatives include Senator Hosea Agbola (Oyo), Senator Ahmed Makarfi (Kaduna), Honourable Bitrus Kaze (Plateau) and Honourable Salmas Badru (Ogun).

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) is represented by Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Dieziani Allison-Madueke; Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Abduljelili Adesiyan; Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Zainab Maina and the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Mohammed.

The PDP also has official party representatives on the committee, which include the deputy national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus; Benue State chapter chairman, Chief Emmanuel Egbo; national women leader, Kema Chikwe and the North West zonal chairman, Ambassador Ibrahim Kazaure.

Other PDP member in the committee are Senator Stella Umo, Senator Walid Jibirn, Ibrahim Bunu, Reverend Jolly Nyame, Senator Aneta Okon, Peter Obi, Mrs Remi Adiuku Bakare and General A. B. Mamman.

The president also personally appointed Halima Alfa, Nigeria Ambassador to Netherland; Dr (Mrs) Nimota Nihinlola Akanbi, Micah Yohanna Jiba and Sam Ikon as members.

Meanwhile, the Niger Delta Youth for Jonathan, one of the groups seeking for his re-election, on Thursday, vowed to occupy the national secretariat of the party on Tuesday, should the party refuse to sell the expression of interest and nomination forms it was seeking to purchase for Jonathan.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the group, Benjamin Egbunike, said its demand to buy bank draft was turned down by Zenith Bank in Abuja, claiming that there was an instruction to that effect from the above.

Briefing newsmen on Thursday, the national coordinator of the group, Ebile Dudu, warned that “we don’t want the public to look at us as if we are protesting, but on Tuesday, we will come to the secretariat and we will not leave without the form.”

The presidency has, however, announced that President Jonathan will depart Lagos today to undertake a brief pilgrimage to Israel.

A statement issued by his spokesman, Dr Reuben Abati, in Abuja, on Thursday, said Jonathan would be accompanied by the Chaplain of the Presidential Villa, Venerable Obioma Onwuzurumba and his principal aides.

It added that in addition to visiting Christian holy sites, the president would join other Nigerian pilgrims in a prayer session for the well-being and progress of the country, at an inter-denominational service in Jerusalem, on Sunday.

Baby born in Ibadan clutching holy Qur’an

For those who believe in things like this...Nigerian Tribune is reporting that a baby was born recently in Oyo state clutching a pocket-size Qur’an (pictured above).

The baby, who has since been named Ismail, was born in a church at the Oniyanrin area of Ibadan in September, the reports states. A renowned Islamic preacher who the newspaper spoke with said the woman who delivered the baby threw away the object she found in the baby's hand thinking it was something devilish, only for them to later find out it was a pocket-size Qur’an which contained all the 114 chapters in the holy book. It was wrapped in a thread. The preacher said although the Qur’an was small, the lettering inside was readable.

The child's parent who were not practicing any faith prior to the birth of Ismail, now say they will revert to Islam as this was a sign directly from Allah.

They also said since the news broke, their residence have become a mecca or sort as Ibadan people troop there to have a glimpse of the little boy.

First case of Ebola recorded in New York

A New York doctor who recently returned from West
Africa has tested positive for Ebola and is being isolated
at a Manhattan hospital, city and state officials said
Thursday night.
The doctor, who has been identified as Dr. Craig Allen
Spencer by New York government sources, was placed
in an isolation unit today at Bellevue Hospital after
reporting Ebola-like symptoms. He had a fever and
gastrointestinal symptoms when he was transferred to
Bellevue, said NYC Department of Health and Mental
Hygiene Commissioner Dr. Mary Bassett.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will
confirm the preliminary positive test. CDC test results
are expected by the end of the day on Friday.
"We've been preparing for just this circumstance. We
were hoping that didn't happen but we were also
realistic," Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a press
conference.
Spencer, 33, was treating Ebola patients in Guinea for
Doctors Without Borders, according to the officials.
Guinea is one of the West African countries currently
battling an Ebola outbreak.
Spencer left Guinea on October 14, said Bassett. He
traveled through Brussels, Belgium, and arrived at JFK
Airport, on Oct. 17.
The city Health Department has already started to trace
the patient's contacts, said Bassett, including four
people he had contact with - his fiancee, two friends
and an Uber driver.
His fiancee - identified by a family friend as Morgan
Dixon - is under quarantine at Bellevue Hospital while
his two friends are quarantined at home, said Bassett,
who added that they aren't showing Ebola symptoms.
The Uber driver isn't considered to be at risk for
contracting the virus.
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and Cuomo expressed
their confidence in the staff at Bellevue Hospital to treat
Spencer.
"There is no reason for New Yorkers to be alarmed,"
said de Blasio. "We've been preparing for months for
the threat posed by Ebola. We have clear and strong
protocols, which are being scrumptiously followed and
were followed in this instance."
Earlier this week, a CDC team determined hospital staff
had proper protocols and was prepared to treat Ebola
patients, said CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden.
While Spencer only began showing symptoms when he
reported a fever this morning, health officials have
begun tracking his movements since his return to the
U.S. Bassett said he took the A, L and 1 subway trains
on Wednesday. He also went to the High Line park and
a bowling alley in the Williamsburg neighborhood of
Brooklyn, The Gutter, which was closed Thursday, "out
of an abundance of caution," Bassett said.
The NYC Health Department will check the bowling alley
on Friday, said Bassett.
Cuomo said he had spoken with Ron Klain, who was
appointed by President Obama as his "Ebola czar." A
CDC team was also en route to New York, said Frieden.
NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical
Center described Spencer as a "dedicated
humanitarian ... who went to an area of medical crisis
to help a desperately underserved population."
Spencer's apartment was sealed off after it was
cleared. Since he tested positive, a team will
decontaminate his apartment in the Harlem section of
New York.
Spencer is the fourth patient to be diagnosed with Ebola
in the United States. Thomas Eric Duncan , a Liberian
national, tested positive for the virus at the end of
September in Dallas, where he infected two nurses who
cared for him: Nina Pham and Amber Vinson.
Duncan died on Oct. 8, shortly before the nurses tested
positive for the virus.
Vinson has been declared virus-free, her family
announced Wednesday. Pham's condition has been
upgraded from "fair" to "good."
Health officials decided to test the New York City
patient for Ebola because of the patient's work,
symptoms and travel history, according to the Bellevue
Hospital statement. Bellevue is the designated hospital
for the diagnosis and treatment of Ebola patients in
New York City.

2015: Court to accelerate hearing of suit on Jonathan’s eligibility

Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Federal High Court, Abuja has agreed to an accelerated hearing of a suit seeking to bar President Goodluck Jonathan from participating in next year’s presidential election.
Ruling yesterday on the ex parte application argued by the plaintiffs’ lawyer, Abiodun Owonikoko (SAN), the judge held that the case will be heard weekly.
Owonikoko had urged the court to fix the hearing for “the earliest possible date” -  in line with the Supreme Court’s practice direction, which directs a quick determination of election-related cases.
Although Justice Mohammed adjourned the matter till November 12, said the order of accelerated hearing will take effect after the mandatory 30 days within which the respondents are to respond to the suit.
In the alternative, said the order of accelerated hearing could take effect earlier if the respondents were able to respond earlier.
The respondents are the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Mohammed Adoke (SAN). They were not represented at yesterday’s proceedings.
The suit was filed by Adejumo Mansouru Ajagbe (who claimed to be a member of the PDP in Lagos State with membership card No: 9424103 and voter card: 90f5b23963295789969) and Olatoye Wahab (who claimed to be a member of the APC in Osun State with membership card no: 13951303, voter card: 18767722.)
The plaintiffs primarily seek to restrain INEC and the AGF from allowing Jonathan participate in the 2015 election on the grounds that by the Constitution, the President, having contested the presidential election twice, won and taken the oath of office and allegiance twice in respect of the same office, he could no longer present himself for election to that office the third time.
They relied on the provisions of sections 132(1), 135(2)(a) and (b), 137(1)(b), 142(1) and (2) and the Supreme Court’s decision in the case of Marwa and Nyako (2012) 6 NWLR (Part 1296) 199 at 306.
The plaintiffs argued that by the provision of the Constitution, the President and Vice President, who were elected in the same election and sworn into office on the same date and at the same ceremony are, in law, taken to have been elected for one single term of four years notwithstanding the death or even impeachment of the President.
“That being so, the reference to ‘two previous elections’ in Section 137(1)(b) of the Constitution includes two previous oath of allegiance and oath of office as President. It is, therefore, safe to conclude that a Vice President, who had taken the oath of allegiance and oath of office for two previous terms as President is, in law, deemed to have been elected into the office of President at two previous elections, thereby standing disqualified to contest another election into that office.”
•A declaration that by the provisions of Section 135(1)(2) and (2a) of the  Constitution, any person holding the office of the President cannot continue to act in that capacity for a period exceeding eight years from the date he/she first took or is deemed to have first taken the oath of allegiance and oath of office, with the exception of the provision of Section 135(3) of the Constitution.
•A declaration that a general election cannot be due to be held when the incumbent President will only have spent a cumulative period of six years in office so that his re-election will be for no more than two additional years having regard to the time expressly specified for holding of general election to the office of President under Section 132 (2) of the Constitution and the maximum term allowed any person under Section 135 of the Constitution.
•A declaration that for the purpose of counting the maximum eight year term limit for a person elected into the office of the President under sections 1(2), 135,136 and 137(1)(b) of the Constitution, the election and period served by a deceased elected President (who did not exhaust his term on account of death) and the remainder served to complete the unexhausted term by the Vice President (successor) is attributable to the successor for determining the two previous election limit and the maximum term of eight years to which the successor is entitled as President under the Constitution.
•A declaration that the 1st defendant (AGF) cannot lawfully advise the 2nd defendant (INEC) to accept as candidate for election to the office of the President, an aspirant who is caught by two previous elections limit and the eight-year term limit in the 2015 elections or any subsequent presidential election.
•A declaration that in view of the provision of Section 137(1)(b) of the Constitution, no person can present himself for the purpose of being elected as President, having participated as candidate and emerged winner at two previous presidential elections on account of which the person would have spent a period of eight years in office by the time the winner of the 2015 presidential election will be sworn into office.
•A declaration the by the provision of Section 135 of the Constitution, any person holding the office of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria cannot continue to act in that capacity for a period exceeding eight years from the date he/she first took or deemed to have first taken the oath of allegiance and oath of office.

Four Chibok girls escape Chibok girls Chibok girls Four Chibok girls escape

•Community ‘not aware’

Four of the more than 200 schoolgirls kidnapped by the militant Islamist sect Boko Haram have escaped, raising hopes for the young ones still held captive, according to a report.
Groove Plus+ could not independently confirm the report from the military last night neither could   the Nation (it's primary source). The story was published by New York Post online.
The Chibok community also said it was not aware of the escape by the girls.
The free girls, all between ages 16 and 18, escaped with the help of a teenage boy prisoner, who managed to get them out of the camp, according to Stephen Davis, a British-Australian negotiator who had tried to bargain with the extremist Islamic group for the schoolgirls’ freedom.
The girls, guided by the setting sun, walked west for three weeks, finally arriving in a Nigerian village, starving and traumatised.
“They were amazing — to first escape and then walk for weeks,” Davis told The Times of London. “They are the only ones that have escaped from a Boko Haram camp.”
Davis said the girls had been told that if they fled Boko Haram, their families would be killed.
Director of Publicity Kibaku Area Development Association Dr. Manasseh Allen, of the Chibok Community in Abuja, said last night, after making calls, that he could not confirm the escape of the girls.
Six months have passed since more than 200 girls were snatched from their boarding-school dormitory in Borno State by Boko Haram operatives.
Their abduction sparked global outrage and a huge campaign calling for their rescue, partly propelled by the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls.
United States First Lady Michelle Obama issued a tweet holding a sign emblazoned with the hashtag.
Davis said several attempts to negotiate their release have fallen through.
Advocates have expressed frustration that the world has moved on.
“Even before Ebola and ISIS’s intensified activities, most of the world that stood with #BringBackOurGirls had moved on,” Ibrahim Abdullahi, the lawyer who started the #BringBackOurGirls campaign, said.
“But we here in Nigeria and a few others outside haven’t moved on. We have been persistent. We have been tweeting about it every day. We’re doing a daily one-hour sit out in Abuja and weekly in Lagos.”

Texas Health Care Worker Tests Positive For Ebola

An American health worker in Texas, who provided care for the first person diagnosed with Ebola in the country has tested positive for the virus in a preliminary examination, an health official said on Sunday.

The most recent Ebola victim reported a low-grade fever on Friday night at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital and was isolated and referred for testing, the Texas Department of State Health Services said.

In a statement, the TDSHS said “We knew a second case could be a reality, and we’ve been preparing for this possibility,” said Dr. David Lakey, commissioner of the health service.

Liberian, Thomas Eric Duncan, the first person diagnosed with Ebola in the United States, died in an isolation ward of the Dallas hospital on Oct. 8, 11 days after being admitted.

The U.S. Government has since ordered five airports to start screening passengers from West Africa for fever.

The number of people known to have died in the worst Ebola outbreak on record has risen to 4,033 out of 8,399 cases in seven countries, the World Health Organization said on Friday.

Liberia has been the worst affected country with 2,316 victims, followed by 930 in Sierra Leone, 778 in Guinea, eight in Nigeria and one in the United States, WHO said.

Demonstrating high competence in the way its Ebola containment was handled, Nigeria has overcome the Ebola Virus Disease and has not reported new cases since August 31.

I’ll never leave PDP —OBJ

FORMER president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, on Sunday, maintained his stance that he is still a card carrying and active member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying he would continue to be actively involved at the ward level against the national level, until issues raised by him concerning the party were addressed.

Obasanjo, in a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, was speaking against the backdrop of an appeal made by the leadership of the party, asking for his forgiveness in any way the party had wronged him.

The two-time elected president said he had no issue with any individual or group of people, as far as the party was concerned, but contended that issues of principle, morality, honour, integrity, commitment and character remained paramount to him.

Obasanjo added that he had never for once left the party, noting that the issue of re-inviting him back was mere misrepresentation.

“Sometimes last week, when I was in South Africa as the Chairman of African Union (AU) Commission of Inquiry on South Sudan and while with my fellow commissioners, we were deliberating on how to help that new country out of its problem of security and violence, I received avalanche of news and cacophony of appeals and pleadings from some quarters of PDP leadership.

“There are misunderstandings and misrepresentations which some of those appeals and pleas manifested; hence this explanation from me.

“Talking of inviting me back to PDP is wrong and it is a great misrepresentation, as I have never left PDP and I will never leave PDP.

“I have said it before and I will say it again, I rose to become the president of Nigeria on the platform of PDP and for that reason alone, I will remain a card-carrying and ward-active member of PDP for as long as I have to be a political party member,” he said.

The former president said he would remain active in the party at the ward level until the party leadership did the needful on some of the issues he had, at different times, raised in the interest of the party.

He pointed out the fact that he would not accept “an indicted drug baron said to be wanted in America” to be the leader of his party in his zone.

Obasanjo said his position as the former president of the country, chairman of West Africa Commission on Drug and a member of Global Commission on Drug would not allow him to accept “an indicted drug baron wanted in America” to be the leader of his party in the South-West zone.

He added that he remained committed to the service of the nation, urging all Nigerians to work towards solving the challenges of insecurity, including the continued abduction of the Chibok girls, widening inequality, impunity, corruption, poverty and youth education, infrastructure, empowerment and employment generation.

“Nobody has personally offended me as a result of my membership of PDP. If, however, anybody or group feels offended by my continued membership, I will offer an unreserved apology but continue to remain in the party.

“I have had occasions to say to the president, the Senate President and the party chairman separately that I have no quarrel with any individual or group in the party. There are, for me, issues of principle, morality, honour, integrity, commitment and character, which are paramount.

“I have national and international standard to maintain and reputation to keep and sustain. For these reasons, I opted to remain active only at the ward level of the party till the leadership does the needful.

“But under no condition will my commitment to Nigeria be diminished. And, for me, it is commitment to Nigeria first and any other commitment can only follow in second or third place. Where any other commitment is in tandem with what I see and understand as commitment to Nigeria, such other commitment will share a pride of place with Nigeria.

“I must hasten to thank the president, the Senate President and the chairman of PDP with whom, at their instances, these issues have been discussed and laid to rest. My interest and commitment to Nigeria go beyond partisan politics.

“Today, Nigeria needs all hands on deck to deal with our pressing problems of security. These are issues of concern to most Nigerians. We all need to join hands to move Nigeria forward. I don’t need to be begged for that.

“Rather, I beg and appeal to those who are begging me to realise that we must put Nigeria’s interest above politics – party or personal – otherwise, we will all be judged at the bar of history if not the bar of current affairs. In addition, we must preserve, sustain and deepen democracy and democratic practices,” he said.
